The much-loved tradition of the Burton Statutes will continue this year, despite this popular event having been postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

East Staffordshire Borough Council has announced a programme to improve the cleanliness of the southbound carriageway of A38 between Claymills and Branston.

From Saturday 3rd October, members of the public will be able to provide feedback and comments on the town’s proposals for projects to be funded by the Government’s Towns Fund programme.

In August 2020 a number of large, colourful swan creations started to appear on the streets of Burton upon Trent, causing quite a buzz around the town.

Now in its 17th year, the annual Recycle Week campaign aims to raise awareness of the benefits of recycling across the UK.

The current Masterplan for Uttoxeter is now over 17 years old. It has successfully helped to guide development and investment in and around the town centre throughout this period, but is now in need of renewal.

The Mayor of East Staffordshire, Councillor Colin Wileman, is to fly the Red Ensign at Burton Town Hall to mark the fifth “Fly the Red Ensign for Merchant Navy Day”.

The Flag hoisting ceremony is to say ‘thank you seafarers’ on Merchant Navy Day, 3rd September.

East Staffordshire Borough Council will open the application process for small businesses to apply for grants from its Local Authority Discretionary Grant Fund on Thursday 6th August. The scheme will close for applications at midnight on Wednesday 12th August 2020.

The phased reopening, which won’t yet include any live performances, will enable visitors to take part in small socially distanced activities and workshops, whilst following new guidelines. 

During the lockdown period Staffordshire County Council and Contractor Amey Highways have been able to continue with the regeneration works on Station Street.
