Council to Launch East Staffordshire Community Lottery

East Staffordshire Borough Council is delighted to announce the launch of the East Staffordshire Community Lottery, an exciting new fundraising initiative offering people the chance to support local good causes whilst having fun and possibly even winning cash prizes!

A generous 50% of each ticket sold will go directly to a nominated good cause  and a further 10% will go into a central fund that will be distributed to more good causes, with the remainder being put towards prizes, operating costs and VAT. Charities, not-for-profit groups, sports clubs and community and voluntary organisations are now being invited to register as good causes.

The Community Lottery could provide valuable additional income for local community and voluntary groups, with these groups being encouraged to promote the lottery with their supporters as a means to aid their fundraising efforts.

Leading lottery management company, Gatherwell, has been appointed by East Staffordshire Borough Council to run the scheme, having already launched similar lotteries elsewhere.

Cllr Simon Slater, Cabinet Member for Communities and Regulatory Services, said: "I am delighted to announce the launch of the Community Lottery, which will help to support good causes across the borough whilst also offering great prizes to entrants. I would like to thank all those who have helped set up the Community Lottery and would encourage those who want to support local good causes to sign up."

It’s easy and free for local charities and community groups to sign up through the Community Lottery’s website.

Ticket sales for the lottery will open in July and people will be able to purchase tickets online and support the good cause of their choice.

Regular updates on the progress of the East Staffordshire Community Lottery will be posted on the Council’s website and social media.
