Laying to rest of faithful Staffordshire Bull Terrier Watchman V

The laying to rest of faithful Staffordshire Bull Terrier Colour Sergeant Watchman V, Somme to his closest friends, will be held on Monday, 31st January 2022 at 11:00am, at the Town Hall, King Edward Place, Burton upon Trent.

The handsome black Staffordshire Bull Terrier Watchman V will be carried by Bearers out of the Main Hall across to the flag poles and pay respect to such a loyal companion.

Watchman V took on his duties on the 8th May 2009 as the Mascot to the Staffordshire Regimental Association (SRA), formally the Staffordshire Regiment, now the Mercian Regiment. He attended many ceremonies with his handler Greg Hedges and amassed a huge number of followers on Facebook.

Watchman V sadly passed away on the 13th January 2022 at 12:45pm and will be buried in the gardens near to the Town Hall.

Councillor, Patricia Ackroyd, Mayor of East Staffordshire, said: “Watchman V was a loving member of his own family and well loved by everyone who knew him in his extensive career, with over 900 events, all over the country. It is an honour for the borough for him to be laid to rest with his predecessors in our Town Hall gardens”.
