Statement from the Mayor of East Staffordshire

On behalf of myself and the Mayoress, I want to publicly thank the people of East Staffordshire who have risen to the many challenges presented by the Covid 19 virus pandemic.

We personally thank all of the amazing NHS staff, ESBC staff, support workers, care home staff and all of the many volunteer groups helping to keep our communities safe.  From young children painting rainbow pictures for our windows, to volunteer groups such as Burton Albion Community Trust, Burton Hope, YMCA, various church groups and far too many others to mention here.

It has been humbling to see everyone working together; there are so many organisations to thank – all of you making your own contributions for the greater good of us all.  It is wonderful to hear everyone clapping on Thursday evenings, creating the sense of a greater community which I am sure we all share in these difficult and worrying times.

I would particularly like to thank each and every one of you for adhering to the Government guidelines, observing the lockdown restrictions and practicising social distancing.

So please - "STAY AT HOME, PROTECT THE NHS, SAVE LIVES"

Colin and Jean - Mayor and Mayoress of East Staffordshire
