Burton in Bloom Receives Award for Summer Floral Displays

East Staffordshire Borough Council’s Horticultural Team has been awarded a certificate of recognition by the Heart of England In Bloom organisation for the various floral displays and hanging baskets it has planted throughout Burton.

2020 has been a very difficult year for everyone, but the Council’s Horticultural team were determined to make the town as floral as possible to try and lift the spirits of the community throughout the summer months.

Floral displays and hanging baskets were planted throughout the town, the highlights of which included the NHS thank you carpet bed and the Swan Statue trail that encouraged so many people to get out and enjoy visiting our parks and gardens.

Cllr Ed Barker, Deputy Leader for Leisure, Culture and Tourism, said: “Although Britain In Bloom was not officially judged this year, the Heart of England In Bloom reviewed photographs of our floral work and have awarded Burton a certificate of recognition for the floral displays created during the pandemic.

“I would like to congratulate the team and thank them for their hard work and for brightening up the Borough during a difficult summer. I am pleased that the in bloom judges have recognised their efforts and awarded us a certificate and I can’t emphasise enough how important our parks, gardens and floral displays are to the health and wellbeing of our community.”
