What is my outstanding balance?
There is a credit on my account and I would like a refund
If you have a received a notice showing a credit on your Council Tax account and you would like a refund, please complete the Refund Request Form.
Some of the information on my bill is incorrect
If you have received a bill from us and some of the information is incorrect, please let us know what information is wrong. For example if your name is misspelt, the liability start or end date is wrong or you have been registered at the wrong property. Send an email to council.tax@eaststaffsbc.gov.uk.
Please include any supporting evidence to enable us to make the change.
I have received a reminder, final notice or summons
You can pay the amount requested here.
You can set up a direct debit so that your Council Tax is paid automatically each month. You are covered by the Direct Debit Guarantee and can cancel at any time. Please download and complete the Direct Debit form.
If you think you have already paid the amount demanded please contact us at council.tax@eastaffsbc.gov.uk and let us know the date the payment was made, the amount and method of payment. Please also attach proof of payment or the authorisation code.
I have received a letter or visit from an Enforcement Agent
If you have received a letter, visit or telephone communication from an Enforcement Agency acting on behalf of East Staffordshire Borough Council it is important that you speak with them straight away.
If you do not contact the Enforcement Agent within 14 days of their first letter, you may be charged fees or goods owned by you may be removed to pay outstanding Council Tax that you owe. Please see their schedule of fees.
Jacobs may be able to make an arrangement with you to spread the outstanding balance over a longer period of time if you are unable to pay in one go.

Compliance stage
The enforcement agents will issue a compliance letter, allowing you the opportunity to contact them and pay the outstanding balance in full or discuss a payment arrangement.
Enforcement stage
If the outstanding balance is not paid in full or you do not keep to the agreed payment arrangement, your case will move to the enforcement stage. The enforcement agent will attend your property and may take control of goods to the value of the debt owed.
Sale or disposal stage
Goods that have been taken may be sold at Auction if the debt is still not paid.

The Council can impose a penalty if you do not provide the information requested within 21 days.
