Remembrance Parade to be Held in Burton upon Trent

A remembrance parade is to go through Burton upon Trent on Sunday 12th November, forming at Burton Library car park from 9:30am and departing at 9:50am.

The parade, led by Mr Gareth Leckey, Bagpiper and the RAF Cadet drummers, will proceed down the High Street into the Market Place, arriving at St. Modwen’s Parish Church for a Service of Remembrance at 10:00am.

Residents who wish to attend the Service of Remembrance but do not wish to join the parade are asked to be seated in St Modwen’s Parish Church by 9:45am.

An Act of Remembrance will then take place at the War Memorial on Lichfield Street at 10:55am, including a wreath laying ceremony.

The parade will then reform and return down the High Street back to Burton Library car park with eyes left for the salute outside Barclays Bank.

Cllr Syed Hussain, Mayor of East Staffordshire, said: “I am remembering those who loved our nation selflessly, and may they always be in our thoughts. From setting the sun to rising, we will remember them. As the offspring of a former soldier from one of the King's regiments, the first citizen and Mayor of East Staffordshire, I would like to pay my utmost respect to them. May their brightness shine down from above. It is always a special occasion for Burton, Uttoxeter, and surrounding villages, and I would be grateful for your presence throughout the event. For our tomorrow, they gave their today.”
