Date Confirmed for Burton’s Christmas Lights Switch On

East Staffordshire Borough Council has today confirmed that Burton’s Christmas Lights Switch On will return to the Market Place on Sunday 26th November 2023. The fun will get underway at 1pm with Rangemore School Choir and conclude at 5.30pm with fireworks. A fun fair will also be running until late that evening.

The much loved annual switch on will include a wide range of family entertainment on the main stage, including live music, magic and fun and games. The afternoon also sees a host of food and drink stalls, a fair and a fireworks display. The Market Hall will also be open, hosting a festive market alongside regular market traders.

This year’s Christmas Lights displays, includes a one off special design by local resident Scarlett Honey Smith, aged 7, who won the opportunity to have her design turned into a Christmas Light, which will appear along Burton High Street.

When asked how Scarlet felt about winning the competition, they said: "I'm happy my drawing won because I will have lots of people see my light glowing at Christmas."

Councillor Paul Walker, Cabinet Member for Tourism and Cultural Development, said “We are really pleased to have created a line-up that celebrates local talent and the community. We have created an inclusive and accessible event that will have something for everyone which, for the first time, includes a gospel choir.”
