Exhibition to celebrate World War RAF Captain Leonard Cheshire arrives at the Brewhouse

The Brewhouse Arts Centre, in Burton upon Trent, this week welcomed the opening of an exhibition to celebrate the history of disability charity Leonard Cheshire and its founder, Second World War RAF.

Councillor Bernard Peters, Deputy Leader for Community and Regulatory Services, said: “A wonderful exhibition celebrating history and a charity which supports disabled people from all around the world. The Brewhouse welcomes residents and visitors to come along to listen to the ‘Voices from Leonard Cheshire’. Please be assured measures are in place for your safety and any exposure to Omicron virus.”

For over 70 years, Leonard Cheshire has been supporting disabled people in the UK and around the world, together with partners to open doors, create opportunities and break down barriers that deny disabled people of their basic rights.

The exhibition, ‘Voices of Leonard Cheshire’ includes an opportunity to listen to newly digitised sound clips from our historic sound collection, saved for the future thanks to National Lottery Players as part of the Leonard Cheshire Archive’s Resonate project.

Clips can be listened to by scanning a QR code on each panel, using the camera on a mobile phone. An exhibition booklet, pop-out phone holder and headphones are available for people to take away if they wish so they may listen to clips at home.

The exhibition is located in the Café Bar Gallery and is FREE to visit until the 5th February 2022.
