East Staffordshire Borough Council issued payments on 13 May 2022 totalling over £4.2m to more than 28,000 Council Tax payers eligible for the Council Tax Energy Rebate of £150 per household. Payments have been made directly into bank accounts from the details we hold for Council Tax payers that pay their Council Tax by Direct Debit.
If you pay your Council Tax by Direct Debit from your bank account to us and you were occupying your home on 1st April 2022 you should see the payment credited to your account within the next two working days.
We will shortly be contacting Council Tax payers who do not pay by Direct Debit with information on how they can receive their payment. Further information will be made available soon.
Council Tax payers who live in properties with a Council Tax Band of E, F, G, or H aren’t entitled to this payment unless they meet the criteria of the Council’s Discretionary Energy Rebate scheme. The qualifying criteria for the Discretionary Scheme will be publicised on our website at https://www.eaststaffsbc.gov.uk/council-tax/energy-rebate shortly, together with details as to how customers may apply.
