Award of Tutbury Grant Scheme

East Staffordshire Borough Council is pleased to announce the award of the Tutbury Grant Scheme. A total of £250,000.00 will be awarded to support ten community based projects in the village.

The monies used to form the Community Grant Scheme comes from a Section 106 agreement associated to a large local housing development within the Tutbury area. The scheme will benefit community based projects within the area and provide added value in supporting the local area.

Applications were submitted earlier this year and for the community based projects to be considered they had to be based within a two mile radius of Tutbury and be a scheme that benefits the Tutbury community.

A panel of councillors reviewed the applications and determined which schemes were successful and how much money would be allocated to each scheme.   The panel consisted of:-

  • Chair: Councillor Sue McGarry;
  • Borough Councillors representing Tutbury & Outwoods: Councillor Simon Gaskin and former Councillor Garry Raybould;
  • Former Chair of the Parish Council: Russell Lock.

The successful local community schemes are to be awarded as follows:

  • Tutbury Museum - Relaunch Project: £3,850.00
  • Tutbury Parish Council - Outdoor Gym Equipment: £35,000.00
  • 1st Tutbury Scout Group - New minibus: £33,442.66

Councillor George Allen, Deputy Leader for Regeneration and Planning Policy said: “This was a great opportunity for local community groups to apply for funding to improve their village. It was a challenging task selecting the recipients who submitted a varied range of applications but this money will make a difference to the local community. We would like to thank everyone for taking the time to submit their applications.”
