ESBC awards over £18m in Business Rate Relief to 656 businesses

East Staffordshire Borough Council has announced that it has awarded Retail Discount Relief and Nursery Discount Relief to all relevant ratepayers in East Staffordshire.

The reliefs, which were announced last week by the Government, are part of a wider package of business support available to businesses in response to the Coronavirus pandemic. The Council has awarded £18 million worth of Retail Discount Relief to 635 businesses and £232,000 worth of Nursery Discount Relief to 21 Nurseries. 

Eligible ratepayers will soon be receiving revised bills over the next few days and the Council won’t be requesting any business rates payments where there is no liability to pay for 2020/21.

The Council will be shortly be contacting all those businesses who are eligible to receive Small Business Grant Funding and Retail, Hospitality and Leisure Grant Funding. More details of these grants can be found at https://www.eaststaffsbc.gov.uk/business-rates/relief/coronavirus.
