Burton Swans to go Under the Hammer for Charity

Following a successful 10 week stay in Burton upon Trent, the 25 swans that have made up the Burton Swans trail will go under the hammer on Monday 26th October, with all the money raised going to Burton’s YMCA charity.

The trail, featuring swans created by local artists, came to an end last weekend, having attracted thousands of visitors. Now fans can bid for their favourite in an online auction hosted by Richard Winterton Auctioneers.

Paul Laffey, Chief Executive of Burton YMCA said: “The Burton Swans Project has been a brilliant outdoor art exhibition bringing light and colour to Burton in very challenging times. Tilley Bancroft from Red Door Studios has managed to bring together businesses, artists and community groups whilst choosing the YMCA as the beneficiary Charity”

“The Brewhouse Arts Centre has also been a wonderful partner in the Project.  Everyone at YMCA Burton is thrilled and thankful to Tilley and her team and all of the generous sponsors for making this event happen.  We are really looking forward to the auction at Richard Winterton Auctioneers, who’ve also kindly donated their services and expertise for free”.

Cllr Ed Barker, Deputy Leader for Leisure, Culture and Tourism, said: “Given the circumstances we have been dealing with as a nation, I am grateful to Tilley and her team for working so hard to make sure this project took place and for putting a smile on people’s faces.

“If you took some time to come to Burton and enjoyed taking part in the Swan Trail, I would like to thank you. Why not get involved with the auction and purchase a Swan, it would make a unique garden display and talking point, and it’s all for a great cause”.
