The following statement is issued on behalf of East Staffordshire Borough Council, Staffordshire County Council and the Unite Union in partnership with the Burton Jobcentre Plus.
The above organisations are currently working on an employment support package to be offered to those affected by the forthcoming closure of Kerry Foods in Burton.
This package will involve the identification of opportunities for alternative employment and how these can best be presented to the workers at Kerry Foods. It will also involve the presentation of opportunities for funded skills development courses, for those who may wish to retrain and apply for jobs in other employment areas.
At this time, the full details of that support package have not yet been confirmed. Once the support package has been finalised, details will be provided directly to those affected as to how and when they will be able to access it. After that communication, details will be shared with the media.
