The jobs fair held recently at Uttoxeter Town Hall was a resounding success. Held on Wednesday 13th June, the event welcomed 110 jobseekers from across East Staffordshire, putting them in touch with 21 employers from across the Borough offering over 450 vacancies and apprenticeships.
The event led to twenty six interviews being arranged with 98 CVs passed to employers.
The event also received positive feedback from jobseekers and employers alike. One jobseeker was particularly pleased that the event was held in Uttoxeter, commenting: “It was good being local as I didn’t need to get the bus to Burton”
Employers were equally positive about the event with comments including:
“I gave several applications out and found that there was more of a turn out to this event than any others that I have personally attended”
“There was a good local attendance and a healthy mix of stalls. It was very good to have Local Authority partners at the fair”.
Cllr Julia Jessel, Deputy Leader for Regeneration said: “I am delighted to see the outcome of this great event delivered with our partners and the number of opportunities it has provided for local people. I would encourage anyone interested in our Job Opportunity Days to join us in September at the next event”.
East Staffordshire Borough Council works in partnership with Jobcentre Plus, Burton and South Derbyshire College, Support Staffordshire (East Staffordshire Community and Voluntary Service), Trent & Dove Housing and Burton and District Chamber of Commerce to deliver the Job Opportunity Days.
The next East Staffordshire jobs fair will be held in the Civic Function Suite at Burton Upon Trent Town Hall, on Wednesday 5th September from 9:30am to 12:30pm.
