Equality impact assessments

Assessing the impact of our policies, strategies, functions and activities on the communities of East Staffordshire is an important part of decision making.  This assessment is documented in an Equality and Health Impact Assessment (EHIA).  EHIAs are completed when a policy, service, strategy or function is created or reviewed.

The EHIA combines an assessment of the impact of a policy or service on the protected characteristics of disability, sex, gender reassignment, race, age, religion or belief, pregnancy and maternity, sexual orientation and marriage and civil partnership, and an assessment of the health impacts of a policy or service on the population as a whole and different groups within the population.

The completion of EHIAs contributes towards one of our corporate equality objectives and ensures that a function or policy will not create any barriers which could prevent access to services or employment opportunities.

Completed Equality and Health Impact Assessments are published alongside the relevant reports and documents on our Committees pages
