Mayor of East Staffordshire

Councillor Patricia Ackroyd

Elected as Mayor: April 2021

Party: Conservative

Constituency: Branston

I was born in Preston, graduating from the University of Newcastle upon Tyne, with honours in Politics and Geography, followed by a P.G.DipEd., teaching in Derby, Redditch and Burton upon Trent, moving here in 1983.

In 1992, I changed career, completing a Post Graduate Diploma in Law and another in Legal Practice.  I joined a firm of independent financial advisers and left in 2000 to set up my own firm, retiring in 2011, but continue to have a will writing company.

In 2007, I was elected for Branston ward in East Staffordshire Borough Council. I have held a number of positions, including Chair of Licensing and Deputy Leader for Housing and Homelessness. I was also privileged to be Mayor of East Staffordshire in 2011-12.

My current interests include chairing an almshouse committee, being a governor at a local high school and a member of Soroptimist International.

I am very much looking forward to getting out into the community of East Staffordshire, meeting as many residents as possible, including hosting groups who wish to visit the Town Hall, of which we are very proud.
