Due to the current weather conditions and the state of the roads, a number of Council services, including bin collections, have been affected.
Bin Collections - Update 2nd March - 10:30am
Due to the current weather conditions and the state of the roads, the Council has suspended all waste collections for Friday 2 March.
The Council would like to apologise for any inconvenience but, unfortunately, this type of severe weather does have an impact on our service as refuse vehicles are vulnerable to skidding, with the potential to cause considerable damage. Whilst we will make every effort to minimise disruption, the health and safety of our crews and the public in general has to take priority.
At this stage, it is anticipated that collections will recommence on Monday 5th March for grey bins (residual waste) and blue bins (dry recycling) only. Brown bin (garden waste) collections will continue to be suspended from Monday 5 March until Friday 9 March. This will enable the Council to divert its resources and support those households that have missed a collection due to the weather conditions.
Households that did not receive their usual collection on Thursday 1st or Friday 2nd March should re-present them on Monday 5th March and we will attempt to collect them as soon as possible. This applies to grey and blue bins only.
Please also be aware that some residents in the Borough will experience a change to their waste collection day from 5th March when the Council rolls out its updated service. Over the past few weeks, residents should have received a new collection calendar advising them as to whether their collection day will change and they should check the details to ensure that they do not miss out on their new regular collection.
