Learn to swim at Uttoxeter Leisure Centre

Uttoxeter Leisure Centre offers children and adults a quality swimming lesson scheme. This modern facility provides a quality swim scheme in a fantastic new centre. The new facilities offer a safe learning environment for the swimmer, whilst providing the perfect location for spectators.

Using the ASA ‘Learn to Swim’ framework, provides quality tuition to both children and adults. Course prices are competitive and offer remarkable value for money.

The swimmers ‘journey through aquatics’ at Uttoxeter Leisure Centre begins at Aqua Babes and Tots for children from 18 months to 4 years old. At 4 years, children move to the stage framework 1 – 7 to develop core skills, before reaching stages 8, 9 & 10 where more specialist skills are taught. Adult lessons are tailored to suit ability and provide a separate skill framework.

Why learn to swim

Swimming is not only one of the safest and most popular forms of exercise, it’s a life skill and vital that young people are given the opportunity to learn to swim for their own safety. Children who do not have the opportunity are unlikely to swim as an adult as part of a healthy lifestyle.

It is so important that you support your child in learning to swim – research into school swimming in 2012 revealed that 1 in 3 children leave primary school unable to swim. 1 in 6 parents said they never take their child swimming, yet 98% of parents agreed that every child should be able to swim when they leave primary school.

By learning to swim from an early age, your child is more likely to enjoy swimming opportunities in the future; the British Gas ASA Learn to Swim Pathway creates competent, confident and safe swimmers with a wide skill base to help them reach their potential in swimming and other fun water-based activities such as water polo, diving, canoeing, sailing and snorkelling.
