Why follow the Council's Social Media pages?

East Staffordshire Borough Council, like many other councils across the country, has set up its own Facebook and Twitter accounts so that our residents (and anyone else who might be interested) can get instant access to the latest news, views and information about what is happening in the area.

One of the Council’s ‘Corporate Objectives’ – the aims we work towards – is to become an increasingly well-run council influenced by local people. Your opinions matter to us, we want to know what you think of our services, good or bad.

Social sites like Twitter and Facebook mean that we have a new and growing network of residents that we can communicate with directly, who can share their opinions with other people and challenge or reinforce our decisions.

With statistics showing that around 50 per cent of the UK has a social networking profile, at least a third of these with a Facebook account and people spending an average of half-an-hour on Facebook everyday, social network sites are proving to be a great way to keep people up-to-date with council information on the matters that affect them directly – from bin collections to the latest leisure centre offers.
