On Thursday July 23rd voters chose to say “yes” to the Neighbourhood Plan becoming part of the Borough’s Development Plan, to be used in deciding planning applications in the Parish. 80.5% of those voting said “Yes”  (599 people) and 19.5% (145 people) voted “No”.  There was a 13.9% turnout, which was reasonable given the geographical extent of the parish and the difficulties of engaging the considerable urban population of the Parish. Staffordshire County Council's Preferred Options Feasibility report for the B5017

In accordance with section 16 of the Neighbourhood Planning (General) Regulations 2012 East Staffordshire Borough Council invited feedback from organisations and individuals on the Branston Neighbourhood Development Plan.

A draft version of the document underwent consultation in June to August 2014 by Branston Parish Council. Comments made to the Parish Council from this consultation helped inform changes to the document submitted to East Staffordshire Borough Council.  The Neighbourhood Development Plan, written by Branston Parish Council and working group proposes a number of policies on housing, transport and the environment.

The Neighbourhood Development Plan is split into three main documents:

It is the responsibility of the Borough Council to collate all the representations and pass them on to the independent Examiner, who will look at them and the plan documents when assessing whether the Plan meets the legislation and can therefore proceed to Referendum.
