Benefits & Rewards
Our benefits include:
Generous pension scheme
East Staffordshire Borough Council employees are given the option to join the local Government Pension scheme, run by Staffordshire County Council. Employees contribute between 5.5% and 7.5% of their gross salary and receive a tax-free lump sum on retirement based on their final year’s salary.
Flexible working hours
The Council works positively to encourage work-life balance and operates a flexi-time scheme allowing staff to work flexibly between 7.00 am and 7.00 pm. A standard 37 hour week is in place. However, employees are able to manage their own time with the potential to earn an additional 16 days leave each year (conditions apply).
Additional benefits for staff include: parental leave, emergency leave, time off for dependants, paid dependant care leave, maternity leave, paternity leave, adoption leave, compassionate leave, time off for cancer screening, flexible working requests. Home working arrangements are also available, as are childcare vouchers.
Generous holiday entitlement
Our basic entitlement ranges from 23 to 33 days plus public holidays, an extra statutory day and 2 concessionary days.
There is a relocation package for people moving into the area (conditions apply)
Commitment to Wellbeing
As part of our commitment to staff wellbeing, we are developing a workplace health strategy and have various initiatives in place to promote a healthy workforce. This includes health promotion information, wellbeing assessment checks, access to exercise programmes and classes.
Employees can take up a corporate membership with the Meadowside and Uttoxeter Leisure Centres, enjoy discounts on facilities at the Shobnall Leisure Complex, or purchase a reduced membership rate at an independent gym in Burton upon Trent.
We also offer employees eye care vouchers.
Free Car Parking and Green Travel
We promote green travel arrangements including car sharing, travel by public transport and bicycle usage. We operate a Cycle Scheme.
