Informing The Council

Several departments within the East Staffordshire Borough Council will need to be informed of a death.

Registering a Death

Every death in England and Wales must be registered in the district in which it takes place within 5 days of the date of death. Find out more below:

Funeral Services

East Staffordshire Welfare Funeral Services - Under the Public Health (Control of Disease) Act 1984 Section 46, when a person passes away in the Borough of East Staffordshire and there is no one able or willing to pay for the funeral, the council has a statutory duty to make the necessary arrangements for a public health funeral.

Funeral Services UK - A directory containing everything from funeral directors to florists.

Arranging a funeral is very different from other types of consumer services. The Office of Fair Trading offers advice on legal rights, costs and complaints.

Bereavement Support

Child Bereavement UK
