Since September 2009 the Neighbourhood Working Team has been involved with the Staffordshire Police and The Safer Roads Partnership in revitalising Community Speed watch.
The schemes are now coordinated through the Safer Roads Partnership in Stafford. They are the people who oversee the camera safety vans and the fixed cameras.
The benefits of this are as follows
- Consistent approach across county under the Safer Roads Partnership.
- Volunteers will be identified as part of the safer roads partnership.
- Better lightweight signs.
- Countywide checking of registration numbers against other schemes.

We currently have active schemes in Abbots Bromley, Barton under Needwood, Brizlincote, Newborough and Anslow.
As well as reviewing existing schemes. We are also looking to start new schemes so if you are interested and would be available to participate in training then please get in touch by phone or by email to NeighbourhoodWorking@eaststaffsbc.gov.uk.
What can be achieved.
In the autumn of 2011, the volunteers of the Brizlincote scheme communicated with the Safer Roads Partnership about their findings on Stapenhill Road. the partnership then carried out surveys and as result agreed that the situation warranted more action. They agreed to site one of their camera safety vans at the location.
This would have been more difficult without the work of the volunteers and the evidence they had gathered to promote this additional activity.
