Waste that is classified special waste must be disposed of under strict guidelines. Special waste includes clinical waste, fridge/freezers, industrial waste, although this is not an exclusive list.

If you are a trade premises and have special waste that you need to dispose of the Environment Agency hold a full database of licensed companies in your area that will be able to collect and transport it to a licensed disposal site.

Under recent EU directives, fridge freezers are now classed as special waste, which means that prior to disposal, the foam and gas needs to be removed from each unit by an authorised reprocessor.
