East Staffordshire Borough Council offers a commercial recycling collection service for businesses within the East Staffordshire area. This is a chargeable service and the cost is dependent on the amount of waste produced and the frequency of the service.

Duty of Care

As a business you have a Duty of Care under the Environmental Protection Act 1990 to store, transport and safely dispose of the waste you generate. If you hand over waste to a third party for collection you must ensure that they are an authorised waste carrier and registered with the Environment Agency. The Environment Agency have created a website providing guidance on environmental legislation for businesses in the UK.

Since the 30th October 2007 new Pre Treatment rules regarding the disposal of commercial waste have been in operation. Full details of environmental legislation for businesses in the UK can be found on www.netregs.gov.uk
