Hi everybody,

Just a brief update to keep you all informed as to what I’ve been up to during the months of August and September 2011. In addition to my daily patrols, I have been busy with the following issues:

  • Removal of fly postings in various locations around borough.
  • Antisocial behaviour and criminal damage checks completed.
  • Neighbourhood Watch Officers contacted with a view to arranging joint patrols.
  • Removal of expired planning notices.
  • Responded to complaints regarding domestic bins left out on streets.
  • Hotspot areas patrolled for dog fouling.
  • Attended an open day event at Stretton RSPCA to distribute ESBC literature in order to highlight responsible dog ownership.
  • Contacted Stretton Street Representative and organised a joint patrol.
  • Completed joint patrols with PCSO’s.
  • Responded to complaints from residents regarding high level of litter/Anti social behaviour. Organised possible solutions to these problems.
  • Arranged clean up with ESBC waste Management team in areas with unusually high levels of litter.
  • Checks for fly tipping in hotspot areas.
  • Worked in conjunction with Fire and Rescue Service on issues.
  • Helped to deliver ‘Smartwater’ security system to households within the borough.
  • Participated in council tax ‘empty property’ checks.
  • Responded to complaint regarding vehicles for sale on the public highway.
  • Attended ‘Fresher’s Fayre’ at Burton College as an educational aid to inform students of potential fines for littering.
  • Responding to resident’s requests for new dog fouling signs to be displayed and conducting site visits.

I will be commencing maternity leave on October 7th 2011 but will be returning next year. In my absence, my areas will be covered by other Wardens.

Take care for now.

A warm welcome to everybody and thank you for viewing my web page

Firstly, I’d like to introduce myself to you all. My name is Deb and I am East Staffordshire Borough Council’s Warden for the semi rural north area.  This consists of Stretton, Rolleston, Tutbury and Anslow & Outwoods.

My role is to tackle a number of issues such as dog fouling, littering, domestic bins left out on the street, the reporting of fly posting and fly tipping and highways issues to name but a few. I am authorised to issue Fixed Penalty Notices for dog fouling and littering offences.

Neighbourhood Wardens work in conjunction with a variety of other agencies including; Police, PCSO’s, Fire & Rescue Service, Borough & Parish Councillors, Neighbourhood working, schools, community groups, businesses and residents alike. We are the eyes and ears of the borough council.

Over the next few months I hope to keep you all informed as to what local issues and concerns I have been dealing with. Over the course of June I concentrated mostly on attending parish council meetings, introducing myself to new members of the community and finding out what the important local issues were. Since June, in addition to daily patrols, I have also been busy with the following:

The removal of countless fly postings/illegal signs/advertising banners from my areas

Monitoring of ‘Hotspot areas’ for dog fouling

Arranged and carried out a Litter pick on Bitham Parish Park with Fountain’s school pupils & staff

Reported fly tipping incidents to Enforcement and Waste Management departments

Been a visible presence in areas targeted by anti social behaviour

Reported broken glass on highway

Arranged removal of abandoned shopping trolleys

Joint patrols with PCSO’s

Organised to have replacement bins installed in areas missing them

Attended various community days. I.e., Tutbury in Bloom, Shobnall Waterways Festival, etc.

Reported trip hazards on the pavement, inadequate street lighting & potholes to SCC.

The reporting of illegally operating scrap metal merchants to ESBC Enforcement dept

I will update you again shortly with details of recent activities. In the meantime, if there are any local concerns that you wish to make me aware of, then please feel free to contact me.
