East Staffordshire Borough Council in co-operation with Trent and Dove housing are creating an exemplar property in the ward of Anglesey, Burton upon Trent.
This property will showcase the latest in energy efficiency, and will be open for the public to visit and enjoy from November 2011. Trent and Dove are leasing the property free of charge to ESBC for a period of nine months and East Staffordshire Borough Council are installing many energy efficiency measures upon the property.
The home will be an exhibition of energy efficiency, full of interactive information and suggestions of ideas that you could install within your own property to save money. We will be providing free giveaways, competitions and help to everyone who visits.
The property includes, amongst others, the following measures:
- Photovoltaic panels
- Solar Thermal Heating Panels
- Insulating wall paper
- Light reflective paint
- Rain water harvesting
- An Exemplar garden
The property also exhibits some of the home fire safety measures which the Fire and rescue service would recommend are installed in all homes, from the most effective types of smoke detectors, to flame resistant furnishings. There will also be useful advice around the house on how to avoid accidental fires in homes. Staffordshire Fire Service will occasionally be available at the property for members of the public to drop in for advice.
The property also incorporates meeting room facilities which local community groups are invited to use free of charge. We also aim to accommodate out of hours visits from groups/ organisations whenever possible.
