The National Buy Recycled campaign was developed by LARAC, the Local Authority Advisory Committee. The campaign aims and objectives are

  • To encourage increased participation and support for recycling schemes
  • To raise awareness to recycled products and packaging with recycled content
  • To inform the public of the availability and quality of products and packaging that are recycled or contain recycled content
  • To achieve an environmental closed loop system by means of a standardized Buy Recycled logo
  • To close the recycling loop using the campaign slogan: Buy It, Recycle It, Buy Recycled.
Why should you buy recycled?
  • Grows markets for reclaimed materials
  • Reduced the amount of materials going into our diminishing landfill sites
  • Conserves the earths natural resources and energy
  • Creates jobs
  • Good environmental practice
Tips to help you buy recycled.
  • Try to reduce, reuse and recycle your waste at all times
  • Take a look fresh look at what you buy and the possibilities for reducing your overall waste
  • Avoid purchasing over packed items. Do you need to buy individually wrapped items? Could you buy in bulk? Is the packaging made from recycled material?
  • Look out for products like recycled toilet paper, kitchen rolls, tissues, bin bags and writing paper
  • Recycle your rags as dusters or cloths instead of buying new.
  • Don’t use paper cups and plates. Hire some in if you are having a party
  • Choose longer life, energy efficient and rechargeable products
  • Use your customer power in the work place too. Make sure your office is using recycled paper.
