Local Authorities are required to complete a Further Assessment following the declaration of Air Quality Management Areas.
The purpose of a Further Assessment is to confirm the original decision to declare the Air Quality Management Areas and to determine the main sources of pollution within these areas.
This study uses the latest monitoring data collected by this Authority and computer dispersion modelling to determine both current and future nitrogen dioxide pollution.
The report reaffirms the Authority’s decision to declare the Air Quality Managements Areas and concluded that the vast majority of nitrogen dioxide pollution was generated by traffic.
