Gambling Licences

Premise licences (bingo, adult gaming centres, betting shops, betting in respect of tracks)

A Premises Licence is required for any premises where it is intended to provide gambling facilities.

Small society lottery registration

If you plan to run a small society lottery you don't need a licence but must be registered with the Council

You will need a permit if you wish to have machines or equal chance games.

If you are a commercial club then you will need a club machine permit if wish to have machines or equal chance games.

Licensed premise - gaming machine permit

Under the Gambling Act, pubs will have an automatic entitlement to two gaming machines. Should you wish to offer more than two gaming machines you will need to apply for a licensed premises gaming machine permit.

Family entertainment centres

You will need a licence to operate a family entertainment centre.

Temporary use notices

Premises that might be suitable for a Temporary Use Notice (TUN) would include hotels, conference centres, and sporting venues.

The use of such occasional use notices will be for where the event upon which the betting is to take place is of a temporary, infrequent nature.
