Floating Support is a service providing on-going housing-related support to people for short periods of time from a few weeks up to a maximum of two years. The aim is to support people who need help to remain independent in their housing, for example, help and advice with:
- rent and bills
- managing money
- claiming benefits
- housekeeping
- keeping to a tenancy agreement
- avoiding anti-social behaviour
- developing life-skills
- linking to education and employment opportunities
The support is given by a worker who visits the person in their home. When the person no longer needs it, the support “floats” off to another person.
Floating Support is free and is available to people in any tenure of housing, including the private rented sector. In East Staffordshire the following services are provided:
