The Greenhouse Centre on Stapenhill Road in Burton provides horticultural and environmental education and advice to schools, community groups and the general public. A series of plant fairs are organised throughout the year by the centre, The first plant fair is held at the Greenhouse in April followed by the Spring festival in Stapenhill Gardens every May.
At the Greenhouse we grow and sell a good selection of seasonal vegetable and herb plants, along with fruit trees and bushes and have display gardens with ideas on how to grow food in containers or small gardens and offer short courses on propagation, garden design, pruning and even photography.
The Greenhouse Centre is open to the public from 10am until 4pm Monday-Friday for plant sales and advice on organic gardening. The centre also sells soil improver compost, kitchen caddy's, & water butts (order forms available for cut-price composters).
A group of volunteer gardeners meet at the Greenhouse Centre weekly and are prolific in helping to make Burton Bloom. This team of volunteers also provide the judging for the Brighter Borough gardening competition.
