The Green Spaces team look after a wide range of parks, play areas, countryside sites, woodlands and other landscaped areas. Work is carried out on our instruction by The Landscape Group and other contractors, to cut grass, carry out repairs and maintain the sites. Key sites include Stapenhill Gardens, The Trent Washlands, Shobnall Leisure Complex, Branston Water Park, Bramshall Park and Pennycroft in Uttoxeter and the series of local 'Community Parks'. We also run the 'Greenhouse Gardening Centre' at Stapenhill as an educational resource promoting environmentally friendly gardening and environmental enhancement.
Our key objectives are:
- To offer high quality opportunities for recreation and play, to improve the local environment and to conserve wildlife
- To involve and consult local people in developing and managing our sites.
- To offer free advice to individuals and community groups wishing to improve their local environment - including help with securing grant-aid and with planning and designing projects.
- To promote a year round parks, countryside and gardening events programme with a particular focus on promoting local groups and their own events.
