 Single Equality Scheme

East Staffordshire Borough Council is committed to the creation of a fairer East Staffordshire for everyone

We are committed to delivering services fairly to all sections of the community and ensuring that how we employ people and deliver services promotes equality and challenges inequality.  In order to achieve this, we will endeavour to fully understand the nature and extent of inequality and disadvantage with East Staffordshire’s communities, and to work effectively to reduce and eliminate this disadvantage.

Our vision for East Staffordshire:

  • Everyone can access our services, facilities and information
  • Decision making and services are influenced by the public
  • East Staffordshire is a stronger, more cohesive and inclusive borough
  • Discrimination and harassment is not tolerated
  • Our workforce, and workforce policies, embraces equality
  • Organisations work together to ensure that these aims are embedded

Our objectives for creating a fairer borough are contained within our Single Equality Scheme.  The Single Equality Scheme recognises our legal responsibilities as set out in the Equality Act 2010 in relation to the protected characteristics of sex, gender reassignment, disability, race, age, religion or belief, pregnancy and maternity and sexual orientation.
