Economic Regeneration
The Economic Regeneration Team seek to develop and regenerate the local economy, by creating employment opportunities and facilitating investment in the district.
There are three objectives for “Encouraging Local Enterprise” and these are:
- Delivering housing and economic growth
- Attract inward investment to create a better place to live and work
- Continue to revitalise Uttoxeter creating a better place to live and work
Key Priorities for Service Delivery for 2012/2013 are:
- Continue to deliver Growth Point programme and contribute to Place agenda
- Continue to delivery Uttoxeter regeneration
- Support local business growth and enterprise
- Positively contribute to employment generation
- Maximise funding and income generation opportunities
- Work with partners to tackle issues in areas of multiple deprivation
- Further develop partnership working
- Co-ordinate ESBC consultation strategy
- Ensure ESBC complies with its Safeguarding obligations
Economic Regeneration Strategy 2009/12
The Economic regeneration team is responsible for working in partnership with delivery agencies and the private sector to promote local economic growth and prosperity.
The team delivers a wide range of services as follows:
- Work with ‘Make it in Stoke and Staffordshire’ to promote East Staffordshire as a premier location for inward investment and business expansion.
- Delivery of physical regeneration projects such as the Regenerating Uttoxeter Dove Way and Gateways into Burton.
- Work with Job Centre Plus to assist companies with recruitment issues and get unemployed residents back into work.
- Delivery of the Council's Tourism Development function.
- Support local businesses to attract new business through the Think Local 4 Business campaign including a local on-line business directory and annual Winning Business Exhibition.
- Responsibility for preparing and delivering the Borough Council’s 2007-2012 Economic Regeneration Strategy.
- Work with partners to attract external funding into the Borough to support regeneration and economic development activity.
- Provides a grant finding search service and offers the Funding Toolkit reference guide to help with bid writing to secure funding from external funding bodies.
