The problem ....
- Electricity used to run electrical appliances comes from power stations, which have burned coal, gas or oil to produce it, emitting CO2 in the process
- The more appliances we buy, the more energy is used to produce and run the items
What can I do ....
- Turn off chargers when they aren’t being used
- Switch your computers to energy saving modes
- Turn monitors off when you aren’t using your computer
- Do a free energy check on your home, www.energysavingtrust.org.uk
- Think about buying a small portable monitor that shows you how much electricity you are using, how much it costs and how much CO2 you are adding to the atmosphere
- Consider buying a laptop when replacing your desktop computer
